Before You Begin

Please prepare the following before starting the form:

  • Abstract title

  • Names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors

  • Name of the presenting author

  • Abstract of no more than 3,500 characters, including spaces

  • Three key learning points

  • Answers to two impact questions (see section 4 below)

  • Presenting-author biography of no more than 750 characters

  • Disclosure statement for each author

  • References, if applicable

Incomplete submissions may not be reviewed.

1. Abstract Requirements

Your abstract must:

  • Be written in clear English

  • Contain no more than 3,500 characters, including spaces

  • Present scientific or clinical work relevant to chronic infection pathologies

  • Include actual findings or clearly identified preliminary findings

  • Contain no information that could identify an individual patient

  • Define abbreviations and specialized terms when first used

The title, author information, references, learning points, impact-question answers, biography, and disclosure statements are not included in the 3,500-character limit.

2. Required Abstract Structure

Complete all five sections below. The character limits include spaces.

  • Introduction — maximum 650 characters: Explain the research problem or knowledge gap and why it is important.

  • Objectives/Aims — maximum 300 characters: State the main aim, research question, or hypothesis.

  • Methods — maximum 850 characters: Describe the study design, participants or samples, setting, key procedures, and statistical analyses.

  • Results — maximum 1,000 characters: Present the main findings with relevant data, such as participant numbers, percentages, effect sizes, confidence intervals, or p-values. Do not write only “results will be presented.” Clearly identify preliminary findings.

  • Discussion/Conclusions — maximum 700 characters: State the main conclusion, explain what the findings mean, and describe their scientific or clinical relevance. Do not make claims beyond what the results support.

Together, these five sections may contain no more than 3,500 characters, including spaces.

3. Key Learning Points

Provide exactly three learning points, each containing no more than 250 characters, including spaces. Each point should state one clear thing attendees should understand or remember after your presentation.

4. Impact Questions

Answer both questions separately:

  1. How do your findings contribute to scientific understanding or influence clinical practice? Maximum: 600 characters, including spaces

  2. What is the potential relevance of your findings for patients? Maximum: 600 characters, including spaces

If a direct clinical or patient impact has not yet been demonstrated, describe its possible future relevance without overstating the evidence.

5. Presenting-Author Biography

Provide a short biography of the presenting author containing no more than 750 characters, including spaces.

Include:

  • Current position

  • Institution or organization

  • Main area of expertise

  • Relevant research or clinical interests

Do not submit a complete CV or publication list.

6. Disclosure Statements

Provide a disclosure statement for each author. Each author must disclose any financial relationship held during the previous 24 months with an ineligible company. An ineligible company is primarily involved in producing, marketing, selling, reselling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients. Relevant relationships may include employment, consultancy, advisory roles, research funding, honoraria, stock ownership, patents, royalties, or travel support.

If an author has nothing to disclose, write: “The author has no relevant financial relationships to disclose.”

7. Final Check Before Submission

Before selecting Submit, confirm that:

  • The correct CIP event has been selected
